The exterior maintains a military look with dark green paint, but has many interesting details. There are several places to store things like tools and firewood. The rear-mounted camera makes it much easier to see what's going on behind the platform. He also converted all lighting to LED and installed solar panels on the roof.
The truck still features the original powertrain, which consists of an 8.3-liter Cummins inline-six turbodiesel and a five-speed automatic transmission with a two-speed transfer case. Mike is developing an exciting modification to the cooling system that uses warm coolant as the water heating source, so taking a hot shower becomes much easier.
Mike uses simple solutions to ensure security. Parts of the foam prevent his vessels from moving. He also installed window latches to keep the larger storage boxes from sliding around when moving.
Mike estimates it cost less than $40,000 to build. He has been living in a car for about two years and has traveled across Canada in it. He wholeheartedly recommends the tiny house lifestyle, and with such a great truck, we can see why.
